Upgrade from i5 7600k to R3600 or i5 9600kf / Wait for 10th gen??

What mobo did you use in your friends 3600 build?

I don't know what's a good way to manage this risk. Some mobos allow you to flash without booting normally so picking one of those might be safer. In my case, I already had previous generation CPU on hand so I could use those to update normally. Check if AMD still do the book kit thing (they send you old CPU to use for update, then you send it back) but it would be additional time and effort to get running if you went that route.

I think he is using a 125 euro ASROCK B365 Phantom gaming 4. Something like that, but also flashing a mobo I have never done and seems like more work :(

Oh shit wait sorry, I asked him and he got an x570 Phantom gaming. I was confused with the naming scheme:( I thought he had a cheaper board.

And then with an i5 9600kf WOULD be easier, but maybe there is a motherboard for same pricing that does have an out of the box updated bios? I really dont want to be flashing and stuff, but if the mobo would have to cost me 140 euros, I dont find a 25 euro higher price worth getting the ryzen over the i5

That one comes compatible out of the box right?

I don't know, you'll have to find another way to check. Or maybe one of the AMD fanboys can advise better. They're usually quick enough to tell you to get the CPU...

Well BOYS what I did, I called a webshop and said that I was looking to buy a B450 PRO 4 at a competitor, but I didnt want to flash it myself. Now I got them to update it for me and attach a ryzen 3600, for 5 euro's more than their competitor. Oh and also getting a tube of Corsair TM-30 thermal paste with it. PLUS they are getting it ready right now to ship so I receive it tomorrow.

Thanks for all the replies :) Smooth sailing the coming 8-9 months with my 3600

Would avoid non-ht offerings. If yiu are gonna go with coffelake. Grab an i7 8700 instead.
