When can we expect these?

On the market, there are a lot of GPUs with different physical and electrical bus sizes to fit different motherboards. We have GT 710 models and the like on an X8 physical

 

And there are even X1 physical bus designs, as well as many flavors of X8 and X4 electrical models on even 1050s. With the advent of PCIe gen 4 doubling the bandwidth, and a bit of a resurgence of sff, how long until we get this:

 

PCIe 4.0 X4, on a low power GPU, doesn't have any issues. I would love to toss this in any old system with serious horizontal size constraints or anything that lacks a proper PCIe x16 bus. It also makes for a good opportunity for custom sff builds that need to fit in tiny places. Thoughts?

These look pretty neat and I would love for some modern normal-ish performance cards in general to appear more in low profile varieties.. I just don't think there is much of a market for a totally redesigned PCB for so little people.

You're asking too much, we can't even get a low profile GTX 1650 when it's supposed to be a all about low profile GPUs for pre-build systems.

Honestly what's up with that, my crusade for low profile single slot GPUs goes unsatisfied because AIBs don't see fit to design one, but a lot of OEM cases would benefit from one. Hell I'd buy one for myself to fit an optiplex case I've got lying around

I want one but I don't think they're very easy to find and doubt they'd be a reasonable price either. But gosh darnit they're so pretty and s m o l.

Of course the problem with that is a 1070 is hard to cool. It would have been super unique if it was a 1070 max q, imagine that, but something like a hypothetical RX 5400 would be plausible on a leetol heat sink.

 

also I like how the card is called "katana" and they definitely put a neckbeardy type on the box art

Or a 1070 MXM, it has slightly more CUDA cores than a normal 1070, but runs at a lower clockspeed. Makes less heat but performs about the same. Would be interesting to see how something like a 1660 Ti would do in this form factor as well. It's a much lower power consumption than the 1070, and with my EVGA dual slot cooler I can max the fans and keep it under 50C, which is insane for air. It may be cool enough to still function properly in a single slot blower setup.

Considering MXM cards exists (and some of them had TDP of 100W) I see no reason why they cant do it. Probably market for small form factor gpus is still too niche.
