Twitch vs Mixer vs YouTube

Guiltyxz

Hi, I have a small (36 subs) following on YouTube where I post gaming videos and I want to stream. Would I be better to stream on Twitch, Mixer or YouTube?

Ive never heard of mixer, but it'd probably be easier to do twitch. Bigger audience n all

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

Probably twitch in general.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Depends, Twitch does some pretty dumb stuff, they're basically the streaming equivalent of YouTube. Massive, well known, but they do all sorts of fucky shit behind the scenes that makes it hard on creators other than their few very big favorites. Mixer is nicer (environment) from what I've read, but lesser known and is yet another thing to sign up for. If you're starting streaming I'd look into both Twitch and Mixer and see which seems like the healthiest platform for the long term. It'll be easier to build a following on the one you'd rather stick with now, rather than move platforms when one gets too shitty, only to lose people who don't want another account and can't be bothered to move with you. Ninja pulled it off, but Mixer also paid him the big bucks AFAIK, and he has such a massive viewership that he can afford to lose a bunch and still be fine.

So #1, is competition is good. Three companies in a market isn't historically enough to actually drive competition. Five years ago T-Mobile was the #4 US Wireless carrier, now they're #3 and have driven AT&T and Verizon to go back to unlimited data offerings which were on the verge of disappearing, and they're on the verge of buying Sprint, it's a pretty huge recovery for a carrier near death.

I watch a bit of Twitch, a lot of YouTube, and never watch any Mixer, and that being said, it was remarkably easy to get streaming on Mixer since the software is integrated into the X-Box Game Bar on Windows 10. If you already have a following, it doesn't even matter in the slightest, your users will follow you wherever. If you don't, discoverability is your biggest concern and for that I'd bet YouTube is more likely to drop your archived stream into people's recommended section if it's similar to other things you've watched, and on Mixer you'll never get seen until there's a critical mass of content and viewers there.

And then there's the corporate overlord of the platform, would you rather support Google, Amazon, or Microsoft with your business? I'm sure for most it's irrelevant, but maybe you have an ethical issue with one or more of them.

Also, remember when Facebook Live was in the news for their streaming? I guess that's not relevant anymore. Zucks for them.

I thought mixer was mobile only, or Atleast it was, prob just stream to YouTube if u got Ur followers there, no point in streaming to twitch because ppl just wanna watch the pros play. U actually may be to late to stream just since pros are streaming and everyone rather watch popular streamers instead of check out new streams
