Hey folks!

Some time ago I installed a Linux based OS  on a usb drive to boot from and now I thought is it possible to have two bootable OS on a USB drive with enough space? If its possible, how can you do it, i mean which programs do you need?

I'd  appreciate the help!

Yes this is possible with multiply linux Live CD's on 1 USB. I actually did that once before but you will need some bootloader and multiply partitions. The last one can be a pain because Windows won't let you do this (Will only show one partition when using a USB flash drive). Maybe there is some tool for it these days.

Quick search got me this: http://multibootusb.org/page_download/

Maybe usefull to you?

Yes, its only on the USB. Any data still stored on the USB will be destroyed in the process though.

what exactly do i need to do now to install to linux OS? Do I need to create two partitions on the USB? which format? MBR or GPT?

.image files are the same as ISO containing the content of a device. Normally you would use such file by flashing it on a USB using refuse or dd command. Not sure how you would do that with multiboot tho.

i ended up finding an ISO but the usb is detected in F12 boot menu, it just doenst work
