Every single console iteration has optimizations to power consumption, it's more efficient to design the console to consume less power. Framing it as a "dedication to helping the environment" is a sham, even though that's a welcome side effect of increased efficiency.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Or they could simply shut down the entire console instead of having it go into a suspended mode. Can't go lower than 0W.

So basically they're just blending "Radeon Chill" with the current power optimizations of consoles. Couple that with 7nm power savings and you have a natural reduction in power usage that they're going to run with as being "eco-friendly". I would've though this meant they were making the consoles more easy to repair, use less precious metals and other scarce materials, or at least use less or recyclable plastic. But nope, that'd require an actual effort that may eat into profits.

So they'll add an option to have the system sleep but not do updates while off. This is basically what this article tells me. It is Sony hype train as usual. Next up, "PS5 will have 8 processors!!!" Only to really have: Quad core CPU, and they count the processor of the SATA controller, SSD controller, Sound, and GPU (or whatever) While technically correct, it is playing with specs numbers, which has, granted, always worked for them.

Might as well have a physical power switch to have 0W power consumption when off.

My point is that with Sony, I prefer to see actual facts before helping any hype grow, or be excited by anything. Maybe it is true, and it is actually awesome. We have the technology to make this a reality. But I don't appreciate Sony miss guided marketing before  console announcement.

Sony is being pretty vague about this, but from what I understood, this isnt referring to just the standard standby/sleep mode. Isnt there going to be something about suspending/resuming gameplay at lower power states so the player can jump back in to where they left off? Possibly not  not just when the console is left unattended, but also when the user focus switches to a different task? Whether it plays out like that, but it seems that they are trying to have an always on experience, which many gamers still do, but also save power when its not being gaming.

Dear Friends,

I would love to share this news with all of you , pls let me know your opinion

Your opinions are  highly valuable for me.

What article? Please provide link, as those screenshots are massive. Power saving is neat, but not really something that most people think about. Any amount of power saved is immediately offset by the production costs of the system.
