I am going to be upgrading my PC soon and had a few questions.

1) Is it possible to have my C Drive locked so that it is only a boot drive and nothing except windows updates is saved on it?

2) Is there a way to upgrade to Win 10 Pro (From Win 7 Pro) and after install go into C drive and remove the old OS?

3) Is there a way to upgrade to Win 10 Pro (From Win 7 Pro) without losing any data or reinstalling my Programs (Installed on D Drive)?

Thanks in advance.

*will a system backup on windows 7 and restored on windows 10 make all my games and such on my D drive work as of all I did was just an upgrade and not a fresh install??*

1. You can choose not to store other data, but id use the C drive for progrmas aswell.

2. Id just do a clean install if you comming from windows 7. But if you upgrade, the old os is in C:\windows.old

3. A inplace upgrade should do that, but really id do a reinstall. Make a backup first aswell.

1) no but you can move documents and pictures folders to a separate drive.

2) don't upgrade. If you want windows to work without issues you need to do a clean install.

3) don't be lazy and do a clean install the proper way.
