HDR Monitors

Guest

I'm looking to get a new 1440p monitor (g-sync, 27" minimum, 120hz minimum) and thought HDR would be nice to have. But it seems HDR monitors are pretty few in number. Was wandering if anyone knew of some good HDR monitors

HDR in a nutshell:

In shorts HDR isn't ready yet... you'll end up with nothing but just a fancy name to crank up brightness to maximum so it's not something that can add anything worthy yet... do not base your monitor purchase on it.

Alright thanks. I just thought it would be something to further improve graphics rather than going 4K which I don't want

So basically as @Princess Luna showed you, @Den-Fi summed it up pretty well. HDR offers amazing contrast improvements over what we have now, but unless ALL content producers are willing to make it happen, it's really not worth investing in at this time, kind of like VR, 4K, and Raytracing. To be clear, I'm not dissing the technology itself - the tech is absolutely freakin' cool. It's just not worth mainstream consumer dollar right now, unless you have sacks of money to spare.

FYI, you can link to forum posts rather than screenshot. :)

Ever considered a 3440x1440p ultrawide? we have high refresh rate high end panels nowadays and those are great for gaming.

@kirashi I thought that the SS would be more straightforwards but yes linking the thread is always a good idea.

I've considered it, but wanted to stick with something smaller instead. Spacing would become kind of an issue if I go too wide, and the widescreen doesn't really appeal to me all that much.
