Intel 10nm process for laptops I mean 8core/16ht

Intel 10nm process for laptops I mean 8core/16HT, when Intel planing release this line cpu.

Is Intel planing go far on 7nm or 5nm in core count, like 12 to 16 core in laptops.

just wondering.

thanks

My crystal ball tells me they will release it when it's ready and not before then.

12-16 cores in a consumer laptop is not going to happen for at least 4-5 years.

8 core models already exist but they run extremely hot and constantly overheat unless the OEM makes a 5kg laptop with the thickness of a desktop.

In short, not going to be a realistic prospect in the next 3 years

Or be like Apple and sell the 8 cores parts just for marketing reasons since they'll thermal throttle so hard they perform identically if not worse to the cheaper 6 cores parts.

There are two generations using 10nm architecture, the first Canon Lake was a production failure with awful yields and resulted a single CPU the i3 8121U which is a hyper-threaded dual core.

Then we have Ice Lake which is releasing the end of the year but it will top at 4 hyper-threaded cores with the i7 1068G7 so we're no where near what you're wanting.

Intel has already launched 8-core laptop CPUs, like the Xeon E 2286M.

This is 14nm cpu not 10nm

I talk about new 10nm in laptop segment 8 core.

OK thanks for answering me.

I read on net somewhere, it will be next year, first half of 2020.

I guess it's possible.

You read wrong. Intels 7nm is due 2021

I talking about (second gen) 10nm+

8 core cpu, mobile segment.

i don't think Intel will stay on 10nm for long, competition right now is very harsh and the competition is already at 7nm

10nm is a failure so far. It's clear from the fact that intel are branding both 10nm and 14nm as 10th gen

I doubt we'll see anything more than 4 cores on 10nm. The soonest you can expect anything new from intel that isn't a refresh or rebrand is 2021
