Potentially Stupid SLI Question...

So I am planning a 2011 build with two GPU's in SLI (780 or 780TI if I can hide the cc bill from the lady for a month  :D), but in my current PC which will be more or less abandoned after the new build I have a 570. This got me thinking.

 

Can I run two 780(TI)s in SLI for a single 2560x1440 monitor, and also run my 570 for two 1920x1080 monitors? 

 

The two auxiliary monitors would really only be used for excel, email, word, web etc. nothing demanding. Then all of my work and gaming would be done on the 1440 monitor.

 

Is this possible? I am very new to PC's so dont laugh too hard if this is really crazy...

The 570 cannot be SLIed with the 780TIs but it can be standalone and just run the monitors

You misunderstand what I am asking. I would have a total of three GPU's, two 780TIs in SLI, plus another 570 purely to run the other monitors.

Yes I believe that would work but like I said you cannot have the 570 sli'd with the 780TI's

I understand that you cannot SLI a 570 with 780ti's. This is not my intent. 780ti's in sli together, plus the 570 (not in SLI with anything) as a stand alone card, for the two remaining monitors.

could the 570 be a dedicated PhysX card when the 780's are in sli?

You can, I had two 660 Ti's in SLI and a GT 610 for another monitor

Hmm. That is an idea.

It's worth it, if you ask me. Especally where my computer doesn't even draw 120 watts under load anymore.

Yes it would work if you can fit it all in the case. I do love a nice bit of overkill.

3 two slot cards should fit into a 750D without any problems. Overkill is about right though lol

It should work, you could also set it to run PhysX to take some load off the other cards for better FPS in PhysX games.
