so i just upgraded from 80 mbps to 120, and when i connect via Ethernet directly to my isp provided router it runs fine 120 mbps everytime, the problem arises when i connect via ethernet my isp router with an access point it then doesnt give me the full 120 mbps, when connected to the AP (Via Ethernet of course) it just gives me 80, and thats the same thing with all of my APs it just wont go above 80.

so the diagram is as follows:

Isp router - PC = 120mbps

Isp router - AP - PC =80 mbps

i need help i bought a new AP and cables just to get the full speed in my bedroom but id doesnt work

ISP Router - Arris TG862

AP - Tp-Link TL-WR840N

Cable - Cat-5e

tried different cable lengths and nothing

also tried all diferent modes on the tp link, as a router and as an AP

That sounds about right. The ap only has 100Mbps ports so the best you can hope for is about 80 to 90Mbps with overhead and whatnot. Could be a smidge higher but you won't get the 120Mbps like you do on the ISP device due to the port speed limitation.

You'll need an AP with gigabit ports, you can't swap them out or anything. I would return it and get something better.
