It's a low level API. Similar to DirectX, it allows developers to program stuff at a very low level of the hardware, similar to what developers are abled to achieve on consoles, you know, console optimasation and such.

So in theory Mantle should help you get more out of your hardware. Battlefield 4 is the major game that supports it right now, however AMD has delayed it's drivers, so it's not really there yet.

But performance increases from 10-50% depending on your setup.

and it's AMD only...

who cares...

the answer to your question is to better the industry

sadly they are being a little like children about things like these forcing consumer to make sacrifices

why cant we ahve a card the does gsync, uses shadowplay, has mantle support and eyefinity? we have the tech now but we cant all play nice apparently

AMD wants Nvidia to use it. They are cool with it.

We will be happy to answer that for you, but this is in the wrong section of the forum. This topic belongs in General Discussion, not Tech News. Repost this thread over there, and people will go ahead and answer.

... How about a mod move it instead? That seems easier?

je suis d'accord a ce point la. Pour l'instant mantle est surtout un truc de marketing et on n'est pas pret de retrouver mantle sur tous les prochains jeux.

physx is IMO another marketing thing. There are very few games that support it.

No, they can't. PhysX cannot be enabled without a Nvidia GPU. The game would probably fall back on to a CPU-based physics model if PhysX cannot be used.

No, it cannot. It requires an Nvidia card, and the PhysX drivers bundled with Nvidia driver releases. This technology is Nvidia-only. PhysX can fall back to the CPU if needed, but it's very inefficient.

Mantle is AMD only BUT its open for everyone you might ask "well what does that have to do with nvidia" here is the thing because mantle is open nvidia can look up what they did and optimize with drivers for ex. look at fancy hair on tombraider thats open too and at launch of tomb raider AMD cards destroyed Nvidia cards but since it was open 2 weeks after launch an nvidia driver updates comes and balances everything. one more example would be the new batman game Nvidia played so smart and added tons of tesselatoin in the game because nvidia cards destroy in tesselation and CLOSED everything so AMD couldnt optimize for it;)

sorry about all the mistakes im typing from a phone :(

And nvidia will be having Ganeworks in the future which is like Mantle but closed and its not exactly a api its closed for devs too gameworks basiclly is creating amazing visuals without any effort but at the end all of your coding belongs to nvidia (like the new batman game) any game that uses gameworks will always destroy AMD cards but Mantle is open so it probs wont make so much diffrence in the long run with drivers

It's this kind of comments that let me know that you're a fanboy of nVidia, no two ways about it, which makes me discard just about all you've said. I buy from both, but prefer AMD....

You've got the gist of it, with nVidia, they have this "My way or the highway" attitude, whereas AMD's approach is a little more open. With nVidia, it's all proprietary (I don't get why nVidia boys see this as a good thing). Hence, my preference for AMD GPU....
