Msi Gaming Trio RTX 2080 running very hot.

Hello everyone,

So I recently purchased a MSI Gaming Trio RTX 2080 (The non X version) and it is running at 82-85 degrees on load.

I was wondering, why is it running so hot, is it maybe because I picked the non X model? Or is this normal?

My case is the NZXT S340 elite with two Corsair LL120 fans as intake and one in the back.

Any help would be appreciated.

MSI Gaming Trio RTX 2080

G650M PSU

120gb Kingston SSD

3TB of HDD

Do you have a water cooling radiator as intake on the front for your CPU?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

No I'm not using watercooling, and I've cleaned the front dustfilter already.

Remove the front panel and run the load again. If the temperature goes down, the bottleneck is the S340 Elite Front panel (it's not great for airflow especially for high end components)

Yikes, the temperatures dropped to around 75-78 degrees with the panel off, compared to the 83 or so with panes on....

Have you possibly got any reccomendations for cases, or should I maybe drop down to a less powerful graphics card as the card is brand new and overkill for my use.

That case is very small right, would this even work and/or help?

I remember it being very compact, and my graphics card takes up 60% of my case right now.

You have a couple of options.

The cheapest solution is to just leave the panel off full time (or at least when you want to game)

The relatively cheap but highest risk is to modify the front panel to have better airflow. this has been done numerous time in the past on both S340 and H440 cases

Example 1 Example 1a Example 2

Your other option is to get a new GPU or case. The GPU option is easier, however notably by downgrading your GPU you're leaving yourself open to needing to Future upgrade sooner when you do need to upgrade. The Case option allows you to keep your future-readiness of your system, however the process of swapping cases is the most time consuming component swap you can possibly do. (Personally I never mind doing that but some people do)

The Meshify C is smaller than the S340 elite. The card is 327mm long, but the Meshify C can only hold up to a 315mm long card with front fans included. So no, the Meshify C will not work.

Some cases I would consider are the CoolerMaster H500 and the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M TG, which are both around $100, right in line with the S340 Elite's launch price.

Thanks for the very detailed answer, I am temporarily just going to leave the front off.

I'm still considering what to do next as I've kind of spent my entire budget on my graphics card and I was needing to get dual channel memory, the cutting-a-hole part and adding that grate seems like a decent option but I still might end up just going for a less powerful graphics card as I can then end up getting memory and possibly a new case alongside it.
