Razer Blade Stealth 4k (2019) vs. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2019)

Hey guys,

can you help me to decide which laptop I should choose from the above mentioned?

Razer:

13,3" 4K Touch Display

16GB DDR3 RAM 2133MHZ

i7 8565U

M.2 SSD 512GB

Nvidia MX150

Lenovo:

14" WQHD Display

16GB DDR3 RAM 2133MHZ

i7 8565U

M.2 SSD 1TB

Intel UHD 620

I want to use it for coding, work and maybe watching some movies.

Thanks in advance

As far as I remember  razer aren't perfectly reliable and the X1 has soldered on RAM which means 16GB limit. Both is a killer if you want to use it for coding/work.

How do you feel about the x1 extreme?

The extreme is a bit out of my budget.

I wonder if the trackpad is better in Razer? The Lenovo seems so small. But which one is better? And which one has the better keyboard?

I would go with lenovo over razer any day, but you have chosen a bit of a weird config for the lenovo i have to say. Can you buy directly from lenovo? They have student discounts and stuff.

Razer just will die on you in 3 months, and then the warranty repair will take a month, while Thinkpads are built like tanks, and they have actual support.

And i would go with Lenovo T-series laptops over x series.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

This is the Student version. Which other config would you take? The T490s WQHD version is not ready yet for Students discounts here.

So students can't get the T490s? Weird...

Check campuspoint they have them.

If you disagree on what they done to t490s you could checkout the t480s.

I see they have the WQHD T490s there but that is not the Students discount yet >.<

Avoid Razer laptops - bad QC+QA. Business grade laptops are much better

Check out other business laptops like Thinkpad P/T series, Latitude 7000 series and Elitebook 800 series (except 800 series convertible)

Quality control + quality assurance maybe?

But razer laptops are very crap, linus media group bought 20 of them and after 6 months over half of them needed to be RMA'd, so that is awful quality. And imagine if they sent linus cherry picked laptops, what kind of crap normal consumers get.

Anyways avoid razer as much as you can.

Ok, I may be waiting for the T490s then or just take the X1 Carbon instead. Do you know if the Carbon is made from aluminium? I can't find any details about this.

I thought that the carbon's point was that it was made out of carbon fiber and stuff.

Anyways here is what i found on Thinkpads site:

Quote

With a chassis constructed of four layers of reinforced carbon fiber and a magnesium alloy roll-cage for added strength, you’ll trust this laptop to handle whatever life throws your way.
