cooler for i7 4790

hey guys

i need some help

i got an i7 4790 to replace my i5 4460 ( yea i know its not much but its doing the work i need)

i looked up the thermals and now the cpu reach 100c at stress tests

so i want to replace the cooler

can you guys recommend me a nice quiet cooler?

not looking to overclock it much but if a better cooler for overclocking wont cost that much more i wont mind

and in addition im replacing the case fans too

so also if you can recommend me some quiet fans (i need 3 120mm)

arctic p12's are quite nice

 

and add a 120mm tower like a gamaxx 400 or freezer 33 to it, and it should work quite nice

I agree with you. I personally use the Arctic Freezer 33 eSports ONE. Its successor, the Arctic Freezer 34 is actually cheaper than the 33 for marginally better performance. They'll last you a long time and are very quiet. I run a 2600 oced to 4.1, and it never gets loud under gaming use.

Couple of things. First, since it's not K, you couldn't OC it. What you still can do is set manual voltage (main reason why you have such high temps). If you have entry level mbo, then upgrading cooler is only solution. What thermal paste did you use (guessing you are using stock cooler)? Or was it just pre-applied?

its not stock im having arctic cooling alpine 11 rev 2 

with thermal paste of mx4

I'm sorry. Are you using cooler that looks almost same as stock and performs pretty much same? (being sarcastic, btw)

Sorry, that was joke. Try to limit those voltages first. You shouldn't need better cooler for locked CPU. Only if noise is bothering you.
