Which iPhone models give you trouble with replacing parts yourself

Hi so a friend wants me to replace his charger port and battery on a iPhone 6s, and someone else needs their battery replaced on their 7 plus. I know that iPhone XS doesn't like it when you replace the battery yourself and still gives service errors. Which iPhones prevent the phone from working when replacing parts yourself? Is this thing apple's doing a software thing in IOS or is it just specific iPhone models like the X/8 or newer or XS and newer.

None of them. All iPhones have user replicable parts except for FaceID and TouchID sensors.

Technically that's true but if you swap the battery yourself or have a third party do it it disables things like battery percentage and battery health and displays a message in the battery settings page that it cannot verify whether or not the battery is genuine.

 

It has been in the news over the last couple of days.

Battery percentage shows no matter what battery you use. The battery health feature is the only thing that goes away and it's non-intrusive error that doesn't pop-up every couple of minutes telling you that the battery isn't genuine. 

 

It's really not a big deal all things considered.
