How to clean a mousepad?

Rxd

I've seen 2 main ways across the net. A) by "bathing" it and then gently scrub the dust with a sponge and B) by using wet wipes/alcohol wipes. About A, I tried it on my previous mousepad, which was SS Large and it did the work but the bottom wasn't that efficient at holding the mousepad at one place and I don't really wanna try that again. About B I haven't yet and I would like to hear what you guys have to say. I am using Zowie Divina Blue right now, but I assume it will be the same for any cloth pad out there.

Now I use a hard pad, so much easier to clean, but I use to use wet wipes on my soft pads, if the mouse pad is not too stained, it works pretty nicely. Would not use alcohol wipes, might cause discoloration. Bathing works for stubborn stains, it never caused any problems with holding the mouse pad at one place as you say, I suspect you scrubbed that rubbery side of it also? You should just use water for that rubbery side of it, I would just use shower head for that, wash the grime of, no need to scrub.

Don't use baby or wetwipes because most of them will break up and leave small particles on your mousepad and it probably won't work as well as a proper clean.

Use a light soap (like hand soap) and scrub with your hands (nothing harsh), don't rush or you might ruin the mat.  Wash it off with water (not hot) and let it completely dry with air before using it (make sure that you lay the mat flat when it's drying).

I mainly just lightly wash my mouse pads with whatever soap i have (shampoo, handsoap, dishsoap, etc) and either gently scrub with a sponge or just use my hands in bath. If you dont have a desk mat then you could just use the sink lol.

That's kinda true, only high quality ones worked, I used make up wipes, those work great, no residue, and some higher quality baby wipes, just picked pricier ones, but make up wipes really did the best job.

@noxdeouroboros I don't think I scrubbed the rubber but it was like an year ago so can't be sure about that either.

I will pick up make up wipes and see the result of those. Just to ask is there any difference between make up one or all are the same? @noxdeouroboros

No idea, can't recall what exactly I used, they were bit pricey, and some baby wipes worked, don't remember the brand, but they were lint free wipes, that was written on the packaging, and they did not leave any particles on the mouse pad. Sorry I can't help more, that was a while ago, now I just wipe my hard pad with alcohol wipes and be done. Try one of those pads sometime, expensive, but really worth it.

I take mine out and pressure wash it like I do the floor mats in my cars.

Hitting a mousepad with water at over 7MPa is guaranteed to destory any coatings that the mousepad has and will change the way it feels.  I don't recommend doing this

Jesus Christ, man.  I didn't say I push 2300PSi at it.

Take it outside, lay it down, pressure wash it a bit and done.  If cleaners don't take away the coating, a bit of water pressure won't.

7MPa is only around 1000 PSI which is a lot for a mousepad but I guess it would be fine if you held it far back/used a wider nozzle.  Stronger cleaners will remove the coating which is why I recommend using a light hand soap.
