Let me start off by apologizing for being new to the LTT forums and don't know if my post would fit under one category or many.

So, I just got a new tv and was wondering if I made a pretty good decision overall (will be used for tv, movies, and console gaming). Since it's my first 4K tv as well as my first HDR capable tv I want to make the most of it and plan to upgrade to a PS4 Pro. During this planning I found out there are more HDMI standards than I realized and it confused me. When it comes to HDMI standards is it dependent on the HDMI Port AND the Cable or just the Cable? If the port itself matters then I am unable to figure out what HDMI standard the Vizio V405 supports. Same goes for the PS4 Pro. Also, I'm aware that the Pro has had a few minor hardware changes and was wondering if they affected the Pro's HDMI standard since I will probably get a refurbished unit. What standard does each version of the Pro support?

Thanks in advance for the help and/or redirecting me to the sub-forum(s) best suited for my inquiry.

Display subforum might have been good

That said, when in doubt, General it is if about tech. Off Topic if about anything else.

Worst case, a mod will move it. So don't make a new thread.

As far as i know 4k 60/hdr needs hdmi 2.0 so u need a Pc/Consol with hdmi 2.0 a Display/Tv with a 2.0 input and a Cable that supports 2.0 aswell

The 2.0 ports should be marked at the back of ur tv and there should be a option in ur tvs settings called UHD Color or full 4.4.4 support its diffrent from tv to tv turn that on

If u want to game at higher res and use hdr u should go for the pro the pro ist just a bit faster than the old model so u will have better fps etc
