It could very well be best related. Check the temperatures during gaming using HWMonitor.

Can you check with HWmonitor (or MSI Afterburner) if the clock speeds are stable or dropping?

Linus can’t answer these general questions.  Those are for the knowledgeable users to answer.  I’m not saying that Linus isn’t knowledgeable (after all, his videos show his expertise), it’s just that if Linus was expected to answer every single computer question, he would have not time to work. (A YouTube video a day plus the wan show is a lot of work)

I would also see what the CPU is doing at maximum load, download Prime95 and let it run for a few hours and see if the system remains stable.

 

Have you ever tried cleaning the fans using compressed air?
