Which SSD?

I have a samsung 850 evo sata drive that i got like 2 years ago for my main games, it's only 240gb but it's been really good. i'll keep it in my new build but i'll also get a m.2 since i don't have to cable manage and the price difference isn't that much. But i want an NVMe drive for boot and video editing, but not sure how fast it needs to be, if it's worth paying the extra for the corsair/samsung drive or if i should go with the larger intel

Go with lager intel. Than will be fine unless you want to 4k and shit. And here its not so much the editing but more the moving of those big files. But for me the much higher capacity is worth it over the small perf boost.

So i've been looking for SSD's for my new build, i'll be playing games, rendering and editing videos with sony vegas and using photoshop.
The two i've been looking at are:

Intel 660p 1TB M.2 SSD

Corsair Force Series MP510 480GB M.2 SSD

I also thought about a samsung one but it's not worth the price for me, i've been looking into how they work a bit but i'm confused with all the TLC, QLC stuff. Which one would you recommend? both are around the same price but the size is different

The MP510 does have better sustained write performance, if you work on large files that could come in handy. But the 660p being twice the capacity also means a larger SLC cache, so as long as you stay within that envelope it's going to do really well.

Yeah, i'm not really sure what i should go for. The videos i edit and render are about 2-4 gb, not sure i'll need it to have the extra performance

Will it be fast enough for editing videos? all in all the videos i edit are about 2-5 gb's

yes should be enough. But for video editing I recommend Samsung 970 eve plus. To have max perf

What about the Corsair ssd? is it better to get half the size of the drive for better performance?

Go for the lager capacity. especially when working with video. Sustained write perf duration will be roughly the same. The Corsair in 1TB is also not expensive and will be better compared to intel. Still 970 evo plus= best

Yeah it will be although not as fast as 970 evo but still a NVME so about 1500mbps. Well you will not see much benefit for going speed instead of storage the investment is huge with a downside of limited with 480gbx2=1tb but 1tbx2=2tb

What about when i'm playing games? will the intel be good for that as well?

I would say just get sata ssd which is cheaper and a lot bigger, won't see a big difference if you're playing single player, if you play games like rust which is like Super long but the difference between sata and NVME on rust, iirc, 3.7sec? You can watch YouTube for benchmarks tbh.

Which country?

No, the Intel Optane 900P is by far the best SSD on the market. 970 plus is only within the same tier as SM2262EN drives like the ADATA sx8200 Pro, HP ex950 etc.

Ok, the best that makes sense

and Corsair MP600 should be aye fastestto be frank

There's no reason to get a SATA drive any more with a modern system. Cheap NVMe drives are faster for the same price, the Intel 660p is a prime example of that.

The 660P is a great drive.....until its not haha. Its super cheap, the $/GB ratio is crazy good, but Linus reviewed it a few months ago, and shows that depending on your workload, it can actually be slower than a traditional platter-based drive (once the cache gets filled up).

I think its a GREAT drive if you're informed about this limitation, and you're fine with it. If you buy it because "its a 99 dollar 1TB SSD" and you try to run massive files off it, you're gonna have a bad time. A crappy XPG or WD Blue will outpace the 660P all day long under heavy workloads.

Not sure if i'll move files that are that large, but i think i'll go for the corsair 1tb model, it's only 40€ more and much better specs
