You could even get away with B450 Pro 4 from asrock, I wouldn't really reccomend Asus for AM4 because it's just very overpriced, maybe B450 Tomahawk, Gaming pro carbon AC or some other mobo.

Something to note Tomahawk and Gaming pro carbon have bios flash iirc.

probably mean b450f gaming

yeah, the cheaper one will do, but keep in mind you may need to update the bios to support the 3700x so you may want to select a board that has bios flashback (update bios without cpu installed)

see : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1d9_E3h8bLp-TXr-0zTJFqqVxdCR9daIVNyMatydkpFA/htmlview?sle=true#gid=639584818

The right most green checkmark tells you board has bios flashback

For 3700x you want a board with at least 2 green checks in the middle, ideally 3.. but 2 plus one orange would be acceptable.

The 3rd check in the middle says the vrm is powerful enough to handle 12 core processors with overclocking (orange means yes it can but additional cooling like a fan blowing some air over the vrm is strongly recommended if using such cpu).

the 4th check is for 16 core cpus.

Based on the list above, I would recommend going with MSI boards :

Either one with green check at the right side would be fine.

Thank you for such a detailed reply :)
