Can't change memory to proper speed with X470 GIgabyte Gaming Ultra

So I got my mate a new rig for him and it worked on first shot.  Everything was well.  The system was quiet no noise.. He comes from a Core 2 Quad 8GB RAM SSD.  I got him a 2700x with a Gigabyte X470 Gaming Ultra and Trident Z RGB 32GB 3200Mhz and his memory speed was at 2133Mhz.  No biggie we thought we could fix it in the BIOS.  Well he tried all he could and some options were disabled.  He was stuck on 2133 and told me I tried everything and I believe him.

So we got Ryzen Master and with that by simply moving the slider from 2133 to 3200Mhz then rebooting worked and he was at 3200Mhz.  But then his stock CPU fan start throttling and it was loud and he was like wtf happened.  Finally I got him to change his Smart Fan 5 profille 1 to quiet and that did the trick and now its silent again.  One problem now Ryzen Master can't even take him to 3200Mhz, plus hes tried everything XMP blah blah He is not stupid so I know he went to every tweak option and just couldn't do it.  Now Ryzen won't even let him set to 3200Mhz and hes stuck at 2133.

So right now our next step is to update the BIOS as its a 2018 BIOS.  Will flashing the BIOS on this board open up the memory options and finally giving him 3200Mhz for good ?  Thanks all who read this far.  I welcome any input.  Also mind you this is new to me as I am a intel guy but I like AMD as well.  But it just doesn't make sense.  Shall we flash the BIOS or is that a waste of time ?   Thanks and God Bless

It *could*

Ryzen 2000 CPUs and 400 series motherboards were a little picky with DRAM -- that said, still better than Ryzen 1000 series and 300 series motherboards.

A newer BIOS could be beneficial, since there were a few AGEAS updates between August 2019 and now.

If all else fails, your buddy may have to settle with 2933 MHz or 3000 MHz.

Thank you soo much you little rascal lol!  Thanks for that info.  He will flash today I got the latest BIOS for the board.  Can he put it on USB stick and boot into BIOS and flash it there ?  I don't want to do it inside of windoz and sh*T.  Thank again!  Well it was 3200Mhz then that got messed up back to 2133Mhz so we settle at that speed wtf I bought 3200+  I hope the flashing of the BIOS to 2019 2 months old does the job and opens up his memory options or let him to change to 3200+ and what not.

This happens when you mess with the bios. you can reset the bios with the bios reset button on the I/O.

Now to let you know you can’t jump steps in the Bios especially for gigabyte like say if you’re on F30 you can’t jump steps to F 40 you have to install each bios that leads up to it.

I include a screenshot of the bios upgrade read the stuff in RED:

Ok thanks for the heads up my friend.  Now Im freakin confused LOL.  Q FLASH is in DOS ?  Can we flash from inside the BIOS ?  It says I need F40 and AMD chipset drivers.  We haven't installed any AMD driver so I guess we should install this chipset driver as the insturction say then I have to run FW update tool ?

The easiest way if you can get into Windows is to frist download gigabyte app center: http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Utility/mb_utility_appcenter_B19.0227.1.zip

And then download this it bios updater

http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Utility/mb_utility_atbios_B19.0226.1.zip

For your board you’ll have to manually download F 41 after you have install all the bios till F40 via the bios app and then Open up the bios app and update your bios using the F41 file.
