1080 worth $250?

SickBangerzM9

My brother recently got a new gpu for his computer and his willing to sell me his old 1080 for $250. My current pc has a evga 970 and a 6600k. I dont play that many modern games. i think the most demanding games I have are hitman 2 and siege. I have a 1080p 144hz monitor. I also have a 4k tv which Im hoping I could hook up with my pc to play games on my bed. I have my cpu overclocked to 4.5ghz. so is it worth it? would it even be that much of an upgrade? also, how future proofed would i be?

try convincing him to sell it to you at 200, see if he accepts, otherwise is a great price i think, but if you can make it a better price, even better!

a1080 will let you play alot of games very well for at least 3 years more on high or ultra, is a good purchase i think

GTX 1080 is generally between RTX 2060 ($350) and RTX 2060 Super ($400) in terms of performance. Or a little slower than RX 5700 ($350) over in AMD land.

It's quite a lot faster than your GTX 970, and $250 is below the eBay average for that card, but I will leave it for you to decide if that's a good price on a GTX 1080.

It'll defo help with Hitman 2 and Siege if maxing the graphics is something that appeals to you. Should handle 4K just fine if you tweak your settings to around med/high in most games as well. As for how future proofed, no one knows. I don't think games have gotten massively more demanding as GPUs have improved in performance though. 2015's Rise of the Tomb Raider still pushes hardware as hard as Shadow does, and 2013's GTA V (IIRC that's when it came out) still gives computers more of a beating than many modern titles. What model is it btw? I had two EVGA 1080 SCs (sold them to a buddy, he runs them now), they were excellent cards, smashed everything at 1080p, sadly didn't push them much at 1440p or 4K other than messing around a bit.

I would definitely buy it. You can't get a 1080 cheaper than that. It should last for years to come, just like the 980 did.
