2 Pb278q or 3 korean's?

I have enough money once my last 2 monitors sell on ebay, to either get 2 pb278q's for 429.99+30$ shipping from newegg, (refurbished) or 3 1440p korean monitors.

 

I'm really nervous about the korean ones even though I know a bunch of people that got ones that are perfectly fine, but I'm a bit nervous about it. I hear horror stories about them where people get one with a warranty and end up still having to spend like 300$ just to ship it back and ship the replacement back to themselves, and their's no guarantee your replacement will be any better.  

 

I also hear the korean ones are essentially rejects from panels that couldn't make the cut for samsung/asus or what-have you, so I'm unsure if there's gonna be a picture quality difference ontop of the fact it may have dead pixels.

 

I could get 2 pb278q's and a third later on after I get my objective 2 odac+amp+ my new headphones, but I'm not sure yet.

Well, a lot of my buddies use Korean panels, but I prefer my PB278Qs over them just because of the brand. Asus have never done me wrong, personally - so I have no reason to go with anything else.

 

It's entirely up to you. To be truthful, there's a chance that your PB278Q could have just as many dead pixels or issues when it arrives - it's just boils down to the fact that Asus has a much better RMA process than the small-time companies that you'd get your Korean panels through.

@TechSage @cjeffcoatjr the current plan is, sell my other 2 monitors, have about ~860$ in paypal, get tax money (1k or so)  that leaves me with 1860~ give or take. 

 

Then, 1860-920 = 940 left after buying 2 pb278q, then I buy my replacement psu, ~250$ that leaves 690$.   Then, I sell my old PSU for ~150 and that leaves me with 840$, which pays for my headphones+ o2 dac+amp, which leaves me with ~0 $, then I sell my ad900x's for like 110$ and I'm left with that.

 

Then I buy new shoes

If it were up to me that thought wouldnt even cross my mind because Id rather be completely safe knowing that the asus ones will be 100% perfect and be able to relax and feel good about your decision. Better safe than sorry.

Why not just buy a single display? ROG Swift?

For $840 you can get an O2/ODAC  and a third monitor. The AD900X's are a great pair of cans,.

I need more than just 1 monitor, I'm almost always doing 5 things at once, and I hate the minimize button

 

Plus after having my TN monitors as long as I have, I really want to make the switch to IPS.

I love them to death yeah, but I'm curious as to how much of an improvement I'll see going to hifiman he-500's, I've heard nothing but rave reviews about them, and had a convo with @MayflowerElectronics about them, and he said they were some of his fave headphones to listen to.

 

But I may wait on those and get the 3rd monitor first, not sure yet

Dual PB278Q is pretty good.

Yeah I suppose you do have a great point, I know atleast 15 people with korean ones that were perfect on arrival, but.. I'd rather not risk it, knowing my luck I'll get a horrible one

What are you using the monitors for?

The Asus stand is by far superior.

 

I'd also consider the HP ZR2740W. It's extremely comparable to the PB279Q (they trade blows in spec) and only $365/monitor.

they're mostly gonna be for gaming, and when I get the third one I'll be using them in surround for games, I may someday get into editing since I have the PC for it, I just have no idea where to start

Alright, I'll look into those. tyvm.  Probably just video, although I may buy a nice cannon camera or something later on. Not sure yet
