AIO cooling failing, need suggestion for new cooling system

It was a hot sunny day and i went to boot this piece of pieces and it told temperature overheat. So after changing thermal paste, lag spikes and sound distortion appears while gaming or just idling ( watching youtube,surfing the net,..). AIO seems still working but no matter how much I try to clean or just increase the airflow it wouldn't lower the temperature. My case is small and it can only accommodate an AIO system with only one fan or a small air cooler. Please help me to find a new cooling system which is around $100. And if you can, please leave multiple suggestions as my country is shite and only import some brands. Thanks in advance.

What is your cpu, do you have front intake fans in the case, and is your CPU overclocked?

It's an Intel i7-6700k 4.0 GHz and yes it does have front intake fans but i dont think its overclocked as I dont mess around with that.

Well most 120mm AIOs should be good at stock settings for you 6700k, as long as your motherboard doesn’t run the cpu at high voltages stock. I would first try remounting your cooler before buying a replacement. If that doesn’t work the dark rock pro series are really good, or any of noctua’s coolers are good.

turn it on and place your hand on the pump of the AIO, do u feel a vibration that it is working? if no vibration at all means pump is dead, get an air cooler, noctua nh-u12s, hyper 212, bascially any decent air cooler.

also try clearing your cmos, you may habe accidentally change the voltages in your mobo causing the cpu to overheat

You never have to worry about air coolers dying. A hyper 212 cooler works fine in your case, if possible get the black edition, but if you can't in your country, get the Evo. It's just as good as a 120mm radiator and of course it doesn't have a pump that can break.

Remounted and changed thermal paste 2 times for the last two weeks. Just got it cleaned up and yet still getting high temperature so I don't know what the problem is. This cooler still up and running but I don't know what the deal is

try resetting the CMOS. After that, try unplugging every cable from your mobo and plug it back in (it actually fixed the issue of my old 8600k running at 100 degrees from boot last time)

Pump still seems to work, shook the thing as some people said there maybe air pockets in but still does not solve the problem. and I will try out the CMOS thing before buying a new one

also try unplugging everything and plugging it back in again, reseat the cpu itself too if possible.

the comparments or the cables ? because i took out the compartments and it didnt booted up until i get it fixed

Did you remove the plastic and apply thermal paste on the copper block of the AIO?  What are you using to monitor temperatures?

 

On a side not...even on its side you have some atrocious GPU sag lol

Brother left this PC for me and every once in a while i changed the thermal paste but usually apply it on the cpu itself and i didnt see any plastic on the copper block. I use coretemp and yeah that GPU is already 3-4 years old ( too broke to uprade to gtx 1060 )

Every once in a while you change thermal paste?  How often?  Its not meant to be changed every once in a while.  For future note, leave it alone.  Or risk a repeat of this scenario.

 

Are the fans clean?  You have a dirty as hell case, so a lot of dust on the fans can harm airflow.  Also, when you reapply paste if you stir up all that dust it can get onto the CPU and interfere with the paste possibly, not enough to mess up temps a lot but it's still not good.

 

If you're certain everything is situated properly, you may just have a bad AIO now.  Since you can't see how well it's flowing, and are just going by sound, it may not be flowing coolant properly.  Can you grab a cheap Air Cooler to test?

@jstudrawa keyed into this - there is a HUGE potential for your radiator to be clogged with dust.  Take the AIO fan off the radiator and I bet there is a cat stuck between the fan and radiator if you catch my drift

changed it everytime an overheat notice popped up prior to this situation last changed the paste in Feb. Will grab a cheap air coolant to test this.

BIOS reset to default and re plug all the pins on motherboard. Seems does not help much as it just take double the time to raise up to this worrying temp . give or take 4 more degrees as this isnt really accurate.

If it is steadily going up over 10mins instead of immediately, it may be a cooler problem (maybe a clogged radiator or somehow fluid evaporated). Go pickup a hyper 212 or even just install the stock cooler if you still have it.
