Xeon E5-4650 on X9DRI-LN4F+ Dual Socket Mainboard

AS the title says, i was thinking on using 2 Xeon E5-4650 on a supermicro X9DRI-LN4F+ motherboard

The question is, do Quad Socket CPUs work on a Dual Socket mainboard?
I dont seem to find any real information on that matter wether it works or not.

You need a special motherboard. E5-4650 are socket 2011 but require a special chipset. E5-1xxx and E5-2xxx wil be able to fit. its only a 8 core 16 Thread cpu so maby look for a 2670 ?

For those 4650 your gone jump in a rabbelt hole that you me not come out of.

Do you maybe have some technical details for me? As far as i can tell. the mainboards for the e5-46xx and e5-26xx both use a chipset (C602)

It won't work in anything other than a 4 socket setup. If you look at the Intel page:

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/64622/intel-xeon-processor-e5-4650-20m-cache-2-70-ghz-8-00-gt-s-intel-qpi.html

It says 4S only for Scalability, which means 4 sockets only

then why do single socket boards support it officall?
