3900X solely because it gives you an option to upgrade to a 16-core later on. Good luck with that on Z390 lol.

3900x. I'll take a 5% gaming performance hit for a 50% multicore performance gain. I mean, who wouldn't? That's how you need to look at it. The 9900k is irrelevant at this point. Not to mention that the 3900x also includes a cooler too. No-brainer for me.

That makes a lot of sense. I mean if you play high resolution it makes even more sense.

And I forgot to mention power consumption too! It's actually slightly more efficient than the 9900k despite the 50% extra cores! Crazy. I don't think even the biggest intel fanboys can say the 9900k is worth it over the 3900x.

 

And if they do, then just point them to the 3700x and then they really will go red-faced.

The 3900x is a better buy because while it does lose in gaming technically, it is a better all around performer. For your average gamer it is a complete waste of money though. The 3700x performs the same in gaming and is the best high end gaming CPU in terms of price to performance.

anyway that's 16c, with 32core later in fall and 64core in december, intel gets totally wiped out I guess.

Don't swap your golden sample 9900k for a 3900x. Keep it until 3950x, and even then, you still have a very fast cpu. Might not be a point in changing it until ryzen 4000 next year.
