21:9 vs 31:10 vs 16:9 New monitor

Hunlight

Hello,

Im choosing a new monitor now.

Atm x34p is priced almost 1100 eur here and its just overpriced.

I found Alienware (Dell) AW3418DW a good on with 34" IPS, WFHD, 3440 x 1440 pixels, 21:9, 4 ms, 300 cd/m² + G-sync Priced just under 1k eur - 988eur.

Seems like a nice deal, 34", 1440p resolution which is a nice thing as I always been on 1080p and also g-sync which should be useful.

Also

Samsung LC43J890DKUXEN

seems like an interesting one, even wider which could give some benefits but for that Im loosing 1440p (gettin 1200p still better than 1080p though) no g-sync

still 120Hz which is nice. Also panel is not IPS which was main purpose of my upgrade but TFT VA seems like a good alternative?

I got second AOC VA panel 32" monitor VA seems usefull when working on videos/photoshop so I enjoy it but how is that TFT VA vs IPS holds?

So overall in my price range selection is:

Samsung LC43J890DKUXEN -

cons:

no IPS, no G-sync, no 1440p

pros:

1200p better for gpu (gtx 1080ti should gold ok even on that wider 1440p)

wider 32:10 which gives pros in working environment

Cheaper, almost full 200 eur

Alienware (Dell) AW3418DW -

cons:

More pricey (though because of components so not really con.) 988eur vs 806eur.

IPS panel

G-sync

1440p

Also now I went and check for some 1440p 16:9

Found:

Asus ROG Swift Gaming LCD PG279Q

Gigabyte Gaming Monitorius AORUS AD27QD

Maybe I need just go grab that one and be happy those are like 650eur~ both IPS, g-sync(gigabyte got freesync), 144Hz~ and 1440p.

32:10 is alot better then 21:9, i have owned a 29", 34", 35" 21:9, my 43" 32:10 is by far the best PC monitor type I have had

Got the Samsung 43" atm, will switch it next week for a Lenovo Legion Y44w-10, but the Samsung is not bad at all

Yeah, but over all its lack some of the features I wanted, like IPS (main thing I want to have) g-sync is a nice to have. Yeah it got that super wide screen and I definitely could use it, but Im not sure as its still only VA panel. I checked and other 31:10 with IPS goes for like 1200-1300 eur here and its over my budget which is 900-1000 tops.

My 27" and 29" were Ip, can't say the are better than VA, Ips has more problems with bleeding, VA colors are also great and VA blacks are alot better then Ips.

I agree that VA got a nice colors even my cheap ass 300eur~ got a very nice colors ( at lest in comparison to my benq gl2560 xDD, I never used any othe VA/ IPS so can say for sure)

Over all Im choosing monitor mostly for gaming and like 10% time for work with videos/ photoshop. Also streaming. So 34" is a big one already will provide that nice widescreen gameplay feel. Though that smsung will give better performance mby just a little.

As for gaming IPS/g-sync worth it ?

for now its like 60% for dell alienware and 40% for samsung, still hesitating only because of the size of samsung, a nice feature but on the other hand an give more problems in some games/ work environment.

Also have u tested dell alienware one? I think its almost same as x34p no ?

I will never buy a Dell monitor again, got 3 Dells in the past all 3 with unacceptable bleeding.

The reason why i was looking for something else then 34/35 " 21: 9 was because the wide screen feeling on 34/35 " was not as big as on 29 " but 29 " widescreen is way too low, 43 gives much more wide screen feeling and you have alot more workplace, also tried a 49 " but the extra width is unnecessary and out of your viewing angle

okay makes sense, jsut because the opposite z34 costs like 1080eur~ here and its littlebit too much

I found a Acer Predator Z35P being a good one too, main difference is VA instead of IPS and its like 100 eur cheaper. so its comes to VA vs IPS any decent pros or cons of choosing VA isntead?

Ok now two:

Acer Predator Z35P vs BenQ EX3501R

Price: 828 eur vs 790eur

Gsync: yes vs no(freesync, few sources says works on nvidia up to 100Hz)

Panel: both va

Resolution: same 1440p

HDR: no vs yes

100hz vs 100hz (if no OC)

over all both a nice choice, one have G-sync another got freesync (supposed to work with nvidia gpus too, though not in "official" list), benq got HDR support which makes VA + hdr looks almost like IPS or even better in some cases.

Take a look on Asus ROG Strix XG35VQ, it's better than BenQ EX3501R (No real HDR) got them both side buy side for 4 days.

The asus has better colors and no problems with color fading across the entire width of the screen like the Benq.

Oh so u had those two to compare. Assus is better yeah ? Seems like a very good deal for 680eur~ like 300 eur cheaper coz of VA instead of IPS and freesync instead of gsync. Still not gsync compatible but mby will be in the future?.

Seems like a strong choice I can sacrifice IPS panel :/ oh well... Hopefully will get gsync compatible later on.

Any other good choices for similar price ? 600-900~ I would go for x34 predator but price is just insane over 1000eur. Mby its worth to pay 400eur for IPS and gsync ?

Yeah I think will go with that asus, seems as a nice deal for the buck, can u also give me a tip of what cables I would possibly need to run it at max "settings"

https://www.varle.lt/audio-video-kabeliai-adapteriai/delock-cable-hdmi-mm-v21-15m-8k-60hz-juodas--10223357.html

should be fine?

I want to grab both as I may need them (got gpu and capture card so possibly need to connect to both) so display port 1.3(to be sure :D) and hdmi 2.1 yes?

will that DP cable in box work for 1440p 100Hz ? so its what 1.2 then ?
Also of thos in-askustik Star I can only see hdmi to audio cables here or audio to audio etc no hdmi to hdmi.  Wont that hdmi I mentioned work ? seems to be v2.1 got bandwith of 46GB/s so seems fit for 1440p / 100Hz

The Hdmi cable you mentioned will also work, if you dont need Earc or 8k you dont need Hdmi 2.1

I really jsut want to be sure it works and the price is not that different from nay other hdmi out there. Good

Thanks alot for helpin to select I will order it today should be around till the end of the week. will give a reply when I try it out.

Here is the prices so that LG is way over the budget. Over all I can get even it but it will kill my monthly budget as I will go for monthly payments whatever I buy so go for like 10% monthly payments its fine if its under 100eur if up its no good as its just too much.
