Ryzen 3000 vs 9900k

I am planning a build where single-core performance matters the most. The 9900k used to have the best core per core performance, but would the Ryzen 9 3800x be a better choice now?

perhaps. wait 2 days for reviews, imo 3700X is best value right now and prob what I'm going to get along with an X570 Aorus pro/Gaming Edge

No way of telling until they actually launch. From what we currently know it seems that it's going to be close but we will know on Sunday so it's best to simply wait.
