Do I need a speaker for my PC? How will I hear sounds?

hippity_hoppity

Ok, this may be a dumb and old question, but do I really need a speaker at all? If not, how will I hear sounds? Will the monitor have pre-built speakers? What about the motherboard? I'm going insane thinking about this question that came to my mind out of nowhere. Any suggestions?

Some monitors have built in speakers, just check to see in the specs if it had built in monitors.

The motherboard can determine audio quality, as in the chipset can make it clearer/quieter/louder, etc.

As for suggestions, monitor speakers don't sound too good. If you have the budget to buy a pair for $30 speakers from Logitech than you're much better off getting that. Not to mention that monitors with built in speakers look clunky. Logitech sells ton of affordable 2.1 systems (subwoofer and 2 speakers)

Sorry, but I disagree, some monitors have perfectly adequate speakers... it depends on your usage case.. which the OP hasn't supplied. IMO, if you're gonna be listening to music playing games, then buy a decent pair of headphones... if just regular PC sound from websites and such, the monitors speakers may be adequate, if not then either go with headphones still, or some desktop speakers.... I personally HATE desktop speakers, they just gather dust and take up valuable space on my desktop.

To each their own. I would have suggested headphones but with him asking about the built in speakers I figured he wanted open audio. I might be wrong on the speaker thing, I last had them back in the early 2000's.

@op You can also buy tons of cheap headphones on Amazon that work just fine. They even have mics if you're gaming. If you end up finding bluetooth ones but your motherboard doesn't have built in bluetooth than you can buy a bluetooth adapter for like $7 dollars from ASUS

Sorry but I disagree with this. Their is not enough room a.monitor for a decent speaker considering how flat monitors are these days.  But then again I own multiple headphones and multiple sets of of speakers because monitor speakers suck so much
