Graphics card for Ryzen 5 2400g

ChaosWeaver

Assembled my first desktop and am on the lookout for a good graphics card, one that can handle modern games on ultra.

The issue is whether the newer cards (gtx super) will be bottlenecked by my cpu which is a Ryzen 5 2400g.

RX 580/590 or wait for Navi. RTX 2060 Super would also work. You could go for a used GTX 1070 as well.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

What ram speed are you rocking?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

This isn't always the best course of action, really misguided.

It's a complete waste to shell out for a 2080ti if you're running an i3 4130.
It's a very large waste to pair a 2080ti with a 1080p/60hz panel.
Two examples, both cause valid pause for what will be best for what you have. Part of that "you can afford" part may well be better spend on improving something else. There are more factors than "how much can I spend".

The Ryzen 5 2400G can't handle modern games on Ultra because it can't handle modern GPU-s that are strong enough for Ultra in modern games.

For 1080p High settings the 2400G would do, and should be paired with an RX 570 or a GTX 1660. Wouldn't go above RTX 2060 Super.

Err, increasing details reduces CPU load and increases GPU load.  2400G is only a limit if you are looking to push 120+ FPS (generally a 1080p + high end GPU problem).  If you play at 4k/60hz/ultra it is fine with a high end GPU.

No?

It increases GPU load. Akd sometimes CPU loads depending on the settings avavible..........

2400G is fine.

Get something up to the performance of a 2070.

A vega 56 for 300$ isnt a bad idea right now.

I have yet to find a single graphical setting that takes a CPU from 60-90 FPS down to consistently sub 60.

There are games where it can make a 15% or so difference at ~60FPS, but not 30%+.

There are settings that do this. Tho often developers skip making them tunable since its harder to code in.

One of the games that do this is GTA where you can tune the ammount of vehicles and people being able to be rendered.

Thats where it matters for lower end CPUs. Good news is that the 2400G has 8 threads. Not 4, meaning it will hold up fine in terms of stuttering. Unlike 4c/4t CPUs.

Never saw that issue on GTA V, with the exception of running it on an old dual socket Core 2 Quad workstation.  And Maybe an FX rig.

Both of these systems were extremely weak examples of CPU performance.  Anything Ryzen 5/i7 2600k and up Ive not seen this kind of performance falloff on.

Now, yes. But have you seen AC and how much in can tax a CPU?

GTA is a good example due to people know it can be hard on older systems.

But settings do affect Visuals and the CPU performance.

Adata XPG Spectrum (8gbx2) at 3000mhz.

There's a Rx 570 8gb at a decent rate, which will also allow me budget wise to pick up a 4k monitor.

But with the new AMD cards and super series would the Rx 570 be worth it?

And thanks to all for the rather quick reponses and opinions.

An RX 570 is a bad choice for gaming on 4K. For that, you'd want at least a GTX 2070 Super, GTX 2080 or Radeon VII.

Cool thanks guys/gals, think I'll wait till the rx 5000 series releases to see if the initial reports are as expected in which case I'll pick up a 2070 super and upgrade to a Ryzen 3000 series cpu in the coming year.

Thing is India has some of the most outrageous pricing for pc components.

I get around 60FPS with a 2400G and a RX 580 at 1080p Max settings, get in the low 40 on heavy games like Arma 3, the 2400G can handle more then an Rx580 or GTX 1060, Its at about 15% load on Valley and Heaven benchmark while GPU is at 100% of course. 3.85ghz static, 1.35 volts, 3200mhz on ram and GPU at 1450mhz, 8500 on memory

Main System: Ryzen 2700, Asus Crosshair VII Hero, EVGA GTX 1080ti SC, 970 EVO Plus NVMe, Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz CL14, CM H500, CM ML240L cpu cooler.

Second System: Ryzen 2400G, Gigabyte B450 DS3H, RX 580 Nitro+, Kingston A400 SSD, Team T-Force 3200mhz CL15

If it ain't overclocked it ain't good...
