Windows 10 Pro on DVD, but no optical drive

just.... download the iso....

or spend 50$ on a non legit dvd and then have to buy the microsoft iso anyway , depends how much you care about wasting 50$

I imagine this is a very simple and kind of stupid question, but I wanted to check before shelling out the $.

I found a local retailer that sells Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit for $50 less than the Microsoft store, but it only comes on a DVD (I'm skeptical of the cheaper Windows keys I've seen on other online retailers). My new build will not have an optical drive, so would I be able to create a Windows 10 installer on a USB and use the serial number from the DVD packet to authenticate? I imagine I'm really paying for the license and not storage method of the OS.

Edit: It is an OEM variant of the OS, which I guess is why it's cheaper since I cannot transfer it to a new machine (e.g. if I have to replace the motherboard due to RMA?)

+1 on downloading the ISO

Or just drop by a local e-waste facility or computer store, and ask if you can have a drive for free... The worst they can do is say no.

Okay, thanks! I'll download the ISO onto USB and probably just buy a retail license directly from the MSFT store.
