I currently own a Gtx660 that's doing the job currently for many of my games that I currently play, with the exception of my more demanding games, I currently use 3 odd ball monitors with my main being my U2713HM (1440p). Also, my birthday is the 30th now and I'm contemplating grabbing a 780 HOF and replacing the 660, but with Maxwell around the corner I'm not entirely sure if it would be the best thing to do. I'd rather not be advised on grabbing an R9 290(x) to be honest as I do use all the features that my 660 does offer / Nvidia's features. That's just personal preference but hey. Any advice will be appreciated.

I would wait for Maxwell if you content with the current performance of the 660.

This really depends or whether or not you're satisfied with the performance of your GTX660. If however you decide to buy a 780 make sure you buy an EVGA card as they have a 90-day step up program meaning you can trade in the 780 if Maxwell should launch within 90 days of your purchase. As for the release date of Maxwell cards we really have no idea what so ever though.

It honestly depends though mate, since I'm currently playing a lot of TF2 and other lower requirement games the need for a better GPU even at 1440p isn't needed, but when I then step into games such as Far Cry 3, BL2 (Above 60 / around 120) etc, that are more demanding, my 660 does tend to struggle quite a lot and I'm not really content with visuals v pure framerate, I may look into the EVGA step up program more but the prices of Maxwell will be at a premium when they first release which is another problem, hopefully the 780 prices drop to around £300 (£430 at the moment for a HOF 780) I'll probably end up SLI'ing 2 of them and investing in another PSU but it honestly depends.

Maxwell.

Have to see on pricing.

Wait a gtx 660 ain't that bad.

It is and isn't to be honest, never ran into memory issues but the framerate on other games isn't really where I would like it to be.

wait

Have to see on pricing to be honest, as I've said to others, it honestly depends on the situation, TF2 and other games by all means my 660 chugs along alright, other games not soo much.

Oki doki then :D. True the Maxwell which is still rumored, pricing still unknown as well as the specifications of the card I think that you'll gain more of an advantage as maxwell is a new architecture change from kepler/kepla to maxwell.

I'd wait for Maxwell.  and hopefully by then everyone will know if Mantle catches or not and how much of a performance improvement it really is.  I know you said you don't want a 290X, but it just might come out to be on top by a lot...

before all the AMD fanboi's jump on me about Mantle already being a thing, I don't consider anything actually being a thing until its in many consumer's hands and performing as promised.

Wait for maxwell, I just got a 660, and it is fine for now. Unless you can't stand using the 660, wait for maxwell.
