Ethernet cable vs dual band wifi card? HELP

So right now i have a ethernet cable running from router to desktop..(left side wire in the pic). but i have massive ocd.. i want as less wires as possible.. so i feel to change from ethernet cable to a pcie wifi card, tp link archer t6e. Is this a good idea.. or should i stick to ethernet wire.. which is more secure?

Secure?  Neither are.  Wifi slightly less.

 

Grab the TP Link and go wifi,  Especially with your router right there, you shouldn't lose much if at all bandwidth.

No. Ethernet is faster, has lower latency, and draws less power. It's also basically immune to interference. There's also situations (IIRC) where you can be too close to a wifi router, decreasing performance. Looks good as it is to me.

 

Ethernet is more secure. Ethernet require physical presence to access while wifi can be accessed from anywhere in the vicinity.

You're splitting hairs and not taking into account the real world aspects.  he won't notice a couple more ms of ping, he's not going to get slower for being too close (I use that distance myself, as my router is on my desk), and Ethernet won't be so much faster as to make a difference.

 

Besides, you miss the entire point he's hating his wires due to OCD and WANTS to go wifi. 

 

He'll be fine.

so my internet speed is around 100 Mbps. right now I have asus pce n15, i want to upgrade. I am torn between TP Link Archer t6e and Asus AC68. now asus ac 68 is way better than archer t6e.. i want to know considering that my internet speed is well below low what these both support.. but will getting asus ac 68 improve the data dransfer any over the archer t6e?

No, the t6e is a 2 antenna with MIMO and at your distance it should perform about the same.  The ASUS may be better at much larger distances or thru more walls, but I'd recommend either.

 

Basically, they're both made for maintaining much faster speeds over much larger distances then you are at, so go with the cheaper.

okk.. but will the asus cause less latency? i play online games. and the antenna will be hindered by the pc case.. would that cause much issue? in that case will i see any advantage with asus one? even little?

No, not even a little.  Wifi signal won't be affected by your case at all.  It is affected slightly by bathroom piping and tubs for example, but that's a lot of metal mass.  A PC case won't even be noticed.

 

But if you want to pay 2.5x more for the ASUS for peace of mind, you go right ahead

well peace of mind yes.. but as u are saying it will give me 0 advantage.. then what's the use of paying so much more.. also i never plan to move my router or pc from this position so pc will be close to router.. so if the asus one gives me absolutely no better performance on latency or data speed then wats d point of paying so much more....
