Is it still worth buying the Powercolor vega 56 8gb

I saw more PowerColor Vega 56 8gb red dragon cards with my brother, they are brand new sealed in the bargain bin for $279.00.

Are they still worth buying? 

Should I wait for the RX5700 or go for the rtx 2060 ?

Between an RTX 2060 at around $330+ and a Vega 56 at $280, the RTX 2060 generally holds a significant lead over the Vega with some titles being closer. There are some occasional anomalies such as how the V56 is significantly faster in Forza Horizon 4 than the RTX 2060.) If you don't care for tweaking to get that extra performance out of it and you're looking for the best performance across various titles, it makes the most sense to get an RTX 2060.

 

That being said, the prospect of a cheap Vega is kind of interesting. You can gain a lot of performance with a Vega 64 VBIOS flash, undervolting and overclocking which I have a lot of fun doing. It's not for everyone though, and you'll probably only just get to RTX 2060 performance.

I'd say go for it. I don't thing the RX 5700XT would be that much stronger.
