Audio Production PC - First Build

Hi, I'm currently planning on building my first PC.

The build is going to be focused on Audio Production and light video work ( I use both adobe PS & PP ).

I'm using FL studio 20 as a my DAW.Mainly use high sample library VST's (Omnisphere, Konakt ect..)

I rarely record live musicians, if I do it's usually a single mic input.

I don't play any games, this is what led me to ask what people recommend on here. I found lots of builds catered to

mostly gaming or video production. I want to keep it on a budget, If I don't need to spend more on components I wont

utilize I would rather not.

Let's just start with what specs I figured would be sufficient for the build.

I was trying to keep it under $1000 CAD. If I can massively benefit from paying a little more I will.

CPU: Ryzen 7 - 2700x ( prefer to not overlock my CPU if I don't need to. I'm sure I can figure it out if I need to. My day job is a elevator technician.)

I'm not sure where to start with the MOBO, I can easily find one that fits the same socket but feature wise its hard to figure out what I need to keep it on a budget.

I was planning on using 16 gb of ram, with a SSD running my OS, and a separate one for my sample libraries ( possible regular hard drive if I cant fit another SSD into my budget.

Any recommendations would be super appreciated.

Hopefully I didn't violate any rules posting this here.

Thanks in advance !

You didn't violate any rules?!

And also, just go with a well known MOBO with good VRMs and features, such as the AsRock b450/b450m pro4, AsRock b450/b450m steel legend, MSI b450 tomahawk, etc. 16gb of RAM is good, try and get RAM speed that is at least 3000MHz. If possible, 32gb of ram, as productivity programs like more ram iirc. It sounds good what you are suggesting to do with storage.

I lurk

HP Spectre x360 13t late 2019
Core i5 1035g4
8gb ram
256GB NVME SSD
HP 24mh FHD Monitor

OnePlus 5
Jabra evolve 75
Razer Blackwidow Lite

Steelseries Rival 3

Welcome to the forums! There is a new generation of processors coming out July 7th that may be worth your while, Ryzen 3000 series. I don't know what kind of audio production you do, but I would imagine your programs love lots of CPU cores and RAM. I would 100% recommend waiting until those reviews to post before looking at builds.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)
