Buy a second m.2 and raid or just buy a 1tb

Ravendarat

Ok I currently have one of these https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/kVzkcf/adata-xpg-sx8200-pro-512-gb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-asx8200pnp-512gt-c in my system and a 4tb mechanical drive. I want more ssd storage. I can get another one of the same drives for about $120 CAD and just raid 0 them or I can buy a 1tb drive and just replace my 512. Money doesnt really factor into this choice as either way is in my budget. Im going to have a x570 board so Ill have PCIe 4 for what its worth. Which way would make more sense to go. I assume buying the second 512 but I figured Id ask.

Don't do raid, if you buy a second SSD just use it as a normal drive.

OK whats the reasoning for that? Just instability? I mean if its just about losing all the data if a drive dies that isnt a concern to me as it will just be my OS and frequently played games but if its something more im definitely listening

Raid just causes a bunch of headaches to set up or transfer to other computers or when you reinstall windows or whatever.

And yeah, also data loss.

All for pretty much 0 noticeable performance improvement.

A single SSD is more speed than your OS or programs can use, unless you do lots of video editing or other stuff.

+1.

I highly doubt if that M.2 can not fulfill the requirement in Video editing. That SSD can do 3500/3000. It's plenty fast imo :)
