Can i7 4790(non-K) hold a RTX 2060 / 2070 without much loss to their performances, aiming at FULL HD gameplay / 3D modelling.

The i7 4790, even the non k is still a quite strong cpu, you should be fine.

Hi, so recently I have been thinking about changing my GTX 750 TI 2 GB for a RTX 2060 or a 2070( or their rivals that are coming out from AMD), but before that I'd really like to know if my old I7-4790(non-K) can hold any of those cards without a great loss to their performance, taking in mind that I'll be using it only for FULL HD(1920x1080p) gameplay, 3d modelling and rendering in Maya and 3ds Max, and that I will change my processor next year to a I7-8700K( or the new Ryzen 9 3950X, if I have some spare money).

Doubt it will handle gaming with a cpu intensive game and a 2070. Given how a 4790k performes with a gtx 1080 even at 1440p. 

 

Could try a frame cap if that doesn’t make things worse. Or a lower card.

I see more of an issue with doing the content creation work on a 4C/8T CPU.

 

You did say that you will be upgrading next year, so I see no issue :)
