Can't boot after BIOS reset

the Launch CSM is grey, I can't get to that, nor can I change it.

Find secure boot, disable and save. Then enable csm.

I've got a pre-built Acer Aspire TC-603  (i5-4440, 8GB ram, 1TB hard disk, Windows 10 Home) to which i've added an GTX-1050ti. I've been planning to add an SSD to my PC. In order to remove the bios-password I used the CLR_CMOS jumper on the motherboard. The password was removed and I got acces to the bios setup utility. After saving and closing I got a black screen with:

"Reboot and Select proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in selected device and press a key".

I've never had any boot-problems before. It looks like the hdd is still being detected by the bios, It is listed in the Miscellaneous tab as "sata port1", but I can't see it in the "hard disk drive priority". I guess the bios does recognize the drive, just not as a boot drive? Does anyone have some advise for me?

Greetings!

There should be a setting to switch between IDE and AHCI.  Try setting it back to IDE and see if that works.

I've tried, but no luck unfortunately. Strange thing is, I can boot from a USB-drive and during the installation proces the SSD is being detected. I'm trying to install Windows on the SSD, but its stuck at 37% for about an hour. I'll let it run overnight to see if it helps.

After using the CMOS-jumper the BIOS got reset to default settings, thats probably the thing that started this problem ? I can't revert to previous user settings. Selecting default settings, save and exit give me that "Reboot and Select proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in selected device and press a key" screen.

How many boot devices does the computer have originally?

If you have a spare hard drive lying around, try to use it temporarily and see if it works

I have got the blank SSD drive. I succeeded in booting from a USB-drive with a Windows installing. I'm now trying to install Windows to the SSD, hope that helps...

Only one, just the 1TB hard disk.

Okay so that happened to me as well :(

What I did is I booted off of the other drive and then copied all the important stuff to the spare one, formatted the drive, reinstalled windows, and finally, I transferred all the files I copied back over to the main drive.

I know its an annoying and long process but that's what I did and it worked for me. Good luck...

Boot from Win10 setup disc or usb and try to enter the OS from there.  It's a possibility Acer might have set it up with UEFI boot, and resetting the bios, removed it. Check bios and see if there are any legacy setting that can be set to UEFI. Change to UEFI, save and exit. Then go back into bios and see if there is something called Windows Boot Manager. If there is, use that to boot.

Installing onto SSD should not get stuck at 37% for 1 hour.

There is no legacy/UEFI toggle in the BIOS. Or do you mean I have to get into the bios/uefi via the usb-drive with the Windows install?

This is what happened with me and a "Craigslist Special" Dell Optiplex. Granted, the rig is one generation older, but it was right at that time period where not everything within the BIOS was UEFI. I had a hell of a time getting Windows installed on an SSD. In fact, when UEFI was actually enabled, the whole "boot priority" section within the BIOS doesn't even do anything. I think this is what might do the trick.

OP, if needed, post pics of a ton of settings within the BIOS. No harm!

I meant in the bios. I see CSM in the pic, try enabling that and see what happens.
