1080ti or 2080

From most of what i have seen both are about as good as each other. What is the benefit of the 2080?

currently would be paired with a amd 2600 cpu, upgrading when 3000 series comes out.

Mostly for gaming but might do more and I know about the upcoming super cards

It depends if you want Raytracing and can even find a 1080Ti, from what I understand they have been snatched up off of the used market for the most part. They are only within a few percent performance of each other though so if you can find a 1080Ti for cheap and don't care about RT I say go for that. I say that because even though Nvidia enabled driver level RT on the 10 series cards it tanks performance whenever the scene utilizes RT. I think I remember the 1080Ti even performing below a 2060 with RT on when the scene utilized it. I personally have a 2070 and I love RT when I can use it and the architecture is newer so you're a little more future proof. If you decide on the 2080 though I would wait and see what Nvidia's "super" announcement is. Rumor is that will be "Super" versions of all of their current 20 series cards.

I dont really care about the raytracing kills performance to much atm but ive herd encoding and such is better on rtx cards

Same! Still got the RTX2080 since in my country they cost about the same + new NVENC encoder.

Rtx is slightly ahead in most games 

nvenc is way better 

warranty

Generally in Australia decent second hand 1080ti go for 800-900 and brand new 2080's start at 1150

Both great, when there were no deals on 2080's, he 1080ti was a sure thing just due to the savings (if you could find a good used one).  I just saw a deal on the Zotac ones the other day for I think 630, I got my previous gigabyte gaming OC 2080 version for 630 on a newegg sale.  If you can find them at those prices probably the 2080.  But if they sit around the mid 700's to 800, the 1080ti is a better deal

If you want RT then don't use any of the 10 series GPUs, they'll tank in performance. Anthony did a video about this I believe

Read rest of comments, and ive watched it. I dont care to much about RT maybe when the super cards are out but i doubt they will be  much better

You can get a gtx 1080ti on eBay for about 470 bucks you should take a look at them

2080 is ~5-10% faster in modern games, and with next gen consoles supporting ray tracing I'm betting on RTX being a pretty big deal within the next 12-18 months if you plan on keeping the card that long. Already many games are supporting RTX.

5-10% isnt worth an extra 400 dollars maybe once these super cards (if they do come out) and make original cards cheaper ill get one if not gonna stick to a 1080ti
