Mixing RAM / Which RAM to buy

Hi all. I already have one stick of 8gb corsair vengeance @ 2400mhz in my pc. I am planning on buying a 2x8 kit of corsair vengeance, either at 3000 or 3200 mhz. So my questions are:

1. Is it worth paying £10 more for the extra 200mhz

2. Can i run the 2x8 kit in dual channel at a higher speed and then have the slow stick on its own, or would they all run at the lower speed, in which case is it worth not using the old stick?

Thanks. Should I just not use the slow one then?

Sell the old stick on Ebay or some similar site as it's not worth it to buy higher speed RAM and limit it. If you need the size rather than speed, buy a 2x8gb kit at 2400mhz instead.

If you have Ryzen go for the 3200mhz kit, otherwise you'd be fine with 3000mhz.

Thanks for the reply, I have a 7700k. I'll just give the ram to a friend. The 3000mhz is the same price anyway.
