ryzen does not support multiple screens?

So, my friend build a new pc, and he told me that ryzen 2600x wont support multiple monitors so he bought i5-8400 to his pc.

Am i stupid or does ryzen only supprt one monitor?

That's stupid as the CPU doesn't have an iGPU and therefore doesn't support a monitor AT ALL. 

You need a dedicated GPU with most ryzens (except 2200G and 2400G).

 

Most Intels do have an iGPU however.

my ryzen 5 1600x  and rx580 is doing 3 monitors fine

The 2600X doesn't have a built in GPU, where as the i5 8400 does.. So you need a separate GPU with the 2600 to connect any monitor, while the i5 8400 can connect typically two monitors.

With a separate GPU, Ryzen can certainly support multiple monitors (me looking at three monitors, connected to my Ryzen 7 1700 - RX 580 PC should confirm that).

He phrased it slightly incorrectly, but he's correct.
