Should i go for this cooler ?

saminam

Hi, my current rig is below. So far i have been using the stock cooler for the CPU and i peak at 80c at the absoloute highest. i am interested in streaming so was looking at the Noctua NH-D15 as a cooler. Is this a good cooler to get ? Im struggling to find a good cooler and could use some advice. i typically sit in the 70s area while gaming and would like to get that down. I do have the stock fans in my case. My CPU also does automatically OC to 4.2. So far iv read only positive things about the cooler but im still unsure. basically i want it to be better than the current stock cooler and idk if it will be so would like some advice on whether this is the right cooler to go for.

you can do a dark rock pro 4 too if you want something black

g2 has an eco mode so the fan doesnt spin up unless over 40% load and yes when the fan is on it does make an audible noise.

The Mugen 5 rev B or Ninja 5 are comparable to the Noctua coolers in terms of performance and perceived loudness, for about half the price.

Hi. No the PSU is never loud actually. It has eco mode where the fans spin only when needed i believe (?) come to think of it i hardly ever hear it spin but i do have it set to not interact with the rest of my airflow and has its own little air flow system. With the case i have i dont mind about how it looks. If you think the cooler looks good i think ill take what you said into account

As well as coming with RGB counterparts that look a little better than turd brown..IMO.

Honestly you'd probably still be fine going with something like Noctua's U12. The d15 will perform better and be quieter tho. Saving money with a Coolermaster hyper 212 silence which is black and pretty quiet and is quite a bit cheaper.

i mean... it's effectively a relabeled leadex, so it's about to expect

hm... i've heard some complained about both the leadex and the g2 (same internals), that's why

nhd15 and drp4 are about the same performancewise, but sometimes differ a little in price

You don't need much to cool a 2600x. I personally use a Dark Rock 3 (AM4 kit) and it's already overkill. A Cryorig h7, a hyper 212, etc. will all bring very satisfying results. I wouldn't spend more than 35 bucks on the cooler, except if you want RGB features which there is a premium for.

The NH-D15 is great but probably overkill. You can get away with similar performance with a cheaper cooler like the Macho Rev. B: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/4TCrxr/thermalright-cpu-cooler-machorevb
