How to remove windows defender?

Tasnim7
Go to solution Solved by Delicieuxz,

You can permanently turn off Windows Defender in the Windows 10 settings, the group policy editor, or by using the registry.

Here's a guide showing how to do it using each of those methods: How to permanently disable Windows Defender Antivirus on Windows 10

If you have Windows 10 Pro, disable it in the group policy editor by doing the following:

1. open the group policy editor

2. navigate to: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Defender Antivirus

3. double-click the policy titled "Turn off Windows Defender Antivirus policy"

4. set that policy to "Enabled" and then press OK to close that window

You might have to restart your PC afterwards for the change to take effect.

You can re-enable Windows Defender later by just undoing that group policy change.

Here's a screenshot of the Group Policy editor configuration:

After it's disabled, the Windows Defender panel in Windows Settings should look something like this:

I would like to remove windows defender from windows 10 version 1607. That specific version cause I have a game with mod that runs only on that version of windows 10 and earlier versions of windows. I used MSMG Toolkit, DISM++, install_wim_tweak.exe.All of them removes defender, but it comes right back after some minutes of first logon.

The easiest way is to install a different antivirus that won't mess up with your stuff since Windows Defender gets automatically disable when it detects third party software of same purpose.

Windows Defender as is nowadays is part of the core of Windows 10, there is no way to delete/uninstall it, the closest you can do is leave it completely inactive through a few methods like the one I listed above.

Welcome to anti bloat windows. there are constraints and setup required but its a cut down windows. do not expect frequent  hardware changes as its not designed for that. basically set it and forget it.

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC
Enterprise LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel) is a long-term support version of Windows 10 Enterprise released every 2 to 3 years. Each release is supported with security updates for 10 years after its release, and intentionally receive no feature updates. Some features, including the Microsoft Store and bundled apps, are not included in this edition.[11][1][3] This edition was first released as Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB (Long-Term Servicing Branch).[12] There are currently 3 releases of LTSC: one in 2015 (version 1507), one in 2016 (version 1607) and one in 2018 (version 1809).[13]

I totally missed your point. I have 1607 and 1809 iso, but neither is without the Microsoft Store and bundled apps. I wonder what you might be trying to say.

its merely a suggestion. i dont offer it a golden option as this type of windows is not normal in any means. once you install it on whatever hardware that's pretty much set in stone. you can do hardware upgrades but in general it doesn't like it and best to reinstall windows ltsc everytime.

as to the anti bloatware it come without it by defaults and other features, however if they added it then oh well as i don't use this flavor of window and this is pretty much the sum of my knowledge about it.

Its highly recommended that you do not walk out into the fields of thorns that is the internet without some kind of protection. Look for a third party lightweight AV software. schedule the scans during down time. Windows Defender really doesn't take up much resources. Just reschedule the scans. If you are running Windows on a very low resource machine. Stop. Switch to Lubuntu or another light weight distro. Or, heaven forbid, by a better machine. Hell I just recycled a Optiplex 780 by slapping a new ssd, gtx 750 ti, a new cpu, and installed Ubuntu on it for a 100 bucks. Now its a great little steam machine that could.

Internet is friendly even without antivirus, you just need to learn to embrace it. Not behind every corner is there danger crawling, waiting to jump and latch onto you. Try it sometimes if you have the time, but remember these words, "Unknown Installation, Bad!"

After tinkering around, a solution was found. Not too safe, but the objective was not to be safe anyway.

First, the reference image was mounted using Dism++. Then in the mounted system, a search was executed for defender in the %windir%\WinSxS. Then all the returned results were deleted with IObit unlocker. And disabling it from startup items via dism++. After some more tweaks to remove other components, the image was saved with the committed changes. This proved to achieve the state in question.
