upload speed and gaming

Hey everyone, I want to ask about the required internet speed for smooth PC gaming. I went for the top package that my ISP can offer which is a 1Gbps down and 30mb up package. I am curious as to is that enough for gaming? I feel like hitreg is a big problem but it shouldnt be as 1Gbps is already fast enough, could it be the fact that my upload is only 30mb which is causing hitreg issues?

Another question is that I was under the impression that having a good download speed will mean having a good upload speed too but turns out I am only having 30mbps download where as my friends are having nearly 1gbps upload and download. Am i missing out a lot and will that affect my gaming? Thanks in advance guys

30 up is 100 percent okay for gaming. I know people who game on 2 mbps up.

You also don't have 'only 30mbps download'. You have 912mbps down. 

And I guess they have a different provider that gives symmetrical connections while yours only gives 1000/30.

As long the upload is not like 1kpbs and ping is stable and low it fine for gaming.

In most cases, having modern technologies (fiber optics) can offer symmetrical connections. Older, copper based connections (ADSL, VDSL) are asymmetrical, purely due to historical reasons as users spent most of their time downloading rather than uploading.

 

But yea, 20-30 Mbps is fine for gaming. I have 60 down/10 up connection and I can't complain.
