SSD NVME Samsung 970 Evo Plus low speed???

The board has two m.2 slots and I bet you plugged it in the slower one (x2).

Hello, I just got my Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500 GB which has 3500mb/s and 3300mb/s in theory but I just cloned my SATA SSD to this one and launched Windows on it, did a benchmark and I got only this speeds! What am I doing wrong? The SSD is only 181 gb used, 283 gb free space, and its brand new

 

Only 1782 mb/s and 1689 mb/s

My motherboard has only 1 M.2 slot I putted it on it, but its a 115€ B450 Aorus Pro whats happening?? Thank you

what else do you expect when it's already that filled up? Empty space has a big impact on speed, the larger the test capacity the larger the effect (since you're doing 2GiB)

 

Also the rating is the theoretical max, meaning even a freshly formatted drive with 0 space used might not hit that.

I literally built my friend's PC a few hours ago, and I found out he had the M.2 in the second slot, which (-after reading the manual and being careful-) that the slot is M.2 SATA (not NVMe) and it shares bandwidth with other SATA drives

Have you installed the samsung magician software that contains drivers that carry a noteable difference over the windows one.

more like Magician with RAPID mode, basically using system memory as cache. That doesnt count as making the SSD faster.

If a slot only supports M.2 SATA it wont even work, check out old H110 boards back when M.2 is a niche thing

That is strange indeed. I have 2 NVMe's and they're both 1TB and 500GB 970 Evo Plus and I get full speeds out of both. I am even running SLI too so something's up here. Change the slot if you have another one and lets see whats up.

dude, we are talking here about 2000 mb of difference, my drive is not even half full, you are not right

I dont see another M.2 slot but there has to be, Im going to try on the another one, first Ive to find it xD

Ok, found the first M.2 I was using the second. Didnt see it because the graphics card is literally on top of it, ill post new benchmark now

I dont understand xD this 970 Evo Plus is amazing, as well as my 860 Evo SATA SSD, Samsung on SSDs is the way to go imo

DOA = dead on arrival, tho I meant damaged on arrival. Crippled on arrival makes more sense now that I think of it
