Yes it will be slower, but it is compatible. If you just use ur pc for gaming and browsing that does not make almost any difference and you can save a buck or two.

You are right about SATA vs NVMe.

However, some laptops have SSDs that only have support for NVMe or SATA.

Compatibility (B = SATA, M = NVMe):

B to B slot: OK

B to B+M slot: OK

B to M slot: NO

B+M to B slot: OK

B+M to B+M slot: OK

B+M to M slot: OK

M to B slot: NO

M to B+M slot: OK

M to M slot: OK

Guys I need to upgrade my acer nitro 5. I want to add a ssd to it. I ordered a m.2 sata ssd. I did more research and found out that my laptop have a m.2 NVMe slot. Will that be a problem? Should I cancel my order and buy an m.2 NVMe ssd instead?

Since both are m.2, I think you will be fine.

Its just a waste putting a sata one in a NVMe slot cause the difference is like 500mbs compared to 3500mbs

MAIN BUILD!
