Best Entry Level Mouse

ZombifiedPyro

I watched Linus' video the other day about the roccat mouse, and it made me think what was the best entry level mouse. There is the roccat lua, the steelseries kinzu, the razer abyssus. I think I would go for the roccat because it has the most features/looks the coolest. What is your favorite?

Well, cheapest mouse I have, other than some random no name brand, is the CoolerMaster Xornet. Excellent piece of equipment with claw style ergonomic design, 2000DPI.....cheap and good. I use it on my 3rd rig. My fave is still the Logitech G9, I have one on my 2nd rig and it's been with me for ages.

If the G400 qualifies as entry-level, then it wins easily. Otherwise it'd be the Abyssus, due to having the best sensor.

I don't know about the best but one I certainly like is a Microsoft Wireless 1000 or something, found one on eBay brand new for about £10 and works a treat, it's feels decent quality wise, comfortable and accurate.

I meant around 50 USD. I have broken many standard/cheap mice that are not gaming grade.

R.A.T. 3, Steelseries Sensei RAW, Logitech G400s. These are all great choices, the R.A.T. one is really a mouse that some people love and others hate.

Razer Deathadder is lovely - just a bit over your 50USD mark - but brilliant - especially if you don't have small hands.

The abbysus is decent - but its shape is just a bit too low profile to be comfortable with my grip - it does have the advantage of simplicity however - none of this razer synapse 2.0 BS to break on you.

the R.A.T. one is really a mouse that some people love and others hate.

I've never met anyone that loved it. The R.A.T. mice seem to be randomly created by non-calibrated machinery, every mouse you buy will be slightly different with flaws and even incompatible parts. If you get one that sticks entirely together you are nothing short of lucky. The sensor is also usually inaccurate to the extreme due to being too far into the housing. Everyone pretty much agrees that the R.A.T. is one of the worst gaming mice on the market, unless you somehow find one of the 2.5% that work like they should.

As for the OP. At that amount of dosh you're better off just buying a bog standard Microsoft or Logitech mouse, no gaming mouse in that tier will satisfy. If you can, go the next tier up and get a Thermaltake Tt eSports Theron.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

^^^^Agree on the Rat aspect... that mouse is miss or miss. Only one guy I've known that had one liked it (I actually know 4 people that bought them) and I think that was just because he WANTED to like it and is stubborn as all shit.

Just a little over your budget. There is the Logitech G9x

I bought this after my Microsoft SideWinder X8 and I was truly impressed. I still have it and I recommend this to everyone. It does the job perfectly.

Honestly? Their G400 is probably better unless you need the weight/shape (I'd love a G9x if it had the G400's sensor though).

I disagree, at under 40 dollars you can have a steelseries kana, a roccat lua, a CM storm recon, and more. All are gaming grade mice. It does not have to have a dozen buttons to be a gaming mouse, two and a scroll wheel work just fine.

IMO that's a bit silly. "Gaming grade"... Many gaming marketed mouse are real crap, though I haven't personally tried the Kana, Lua or Recon, I know for a fact that a regular old optical mouse at that price from Logi or MS will be equal if not better than the ones you mentioned, as their sensors are rather good even if they don't LOOK like gaming mice. I would be really surprised if any of the gaming mice you mentioned have better tracking and report rate than a run of the mill MS or Logi mouse. In my experience, at that little money you are essentially paying for looks.

The Recon actually has the best sensor going. It's a solid mouse, though a lot of people find they press the right side-buttons by accident.

Kana and Lua? Not so much...

The sensors might be the same or better on a standard dell mouse, but the switches are definitely of lower quality. My brother and I have both broken two, my sister broke one, and my father/mother broke one. All in a relatively short time compared to the longevity of the switches found in high quality gaming mice.
