So I have a 2600x with two snapped off pins and I will test to see if it can run fine without them or if the cpu will even boot at all. Also, what is the worst could happen if I powered on the system with those two missing pins? Could it damage my mobo, which is in the process of RMA? If all doesn't work, does anyone know any repair shops in the Seattle area (Tacoma, Bellevue, Everett, Edmonds, etc.) that can fix broken off cpu pins for relatively low cost. This cpu cost me $175 so I realy can't afford to lose it it (Although I receive a ridiculous $150 in total bday money from relatives so I can get a 2600 or a dirt cheap 1600). Thanks for any locations!

If your cpu still has the pins, just bend it back into place, but I see that yours is missing 2 pins. I'd prob go ask AMD if they'd send me a new one, or go to a repair shop. I also don't think it'll damage anything but to be sure just don't use it. It won't work with 2 pins off.

the worst case is the other pins may potentially fall off in socket holes and didnt notice. then bend more pins when new cpu inserted...

most of the time losing pins wont damage any more parts. or those may by dummy pins.

The system with either power up with the missing pins.

Or it won't; it will depend on the pins that you broke -- some pins are essential, while others are not so important (e.g. ground pin, etc).

You can start an RMA.

You MAY or MAY NOT get it approved (e.g. user error).

Broken CPU pins is not something you can really fix at a repair shop...

You can try to RMA it, but damaged pins aren't covered. So. Depends how they feel that day.

Probably going to have to call the CPU a loss, sell it to someone stating the damage, and buy something else.

You realize the 2600 is basically the same thing as the 2600X, right?

Take this as a lesson learned and buy a new CPU.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.
