I need help with my RX 580 8GB

Tika

For some reason or another my 580 just doesn't run correctly and i need help. Card performance is less than expected and the card constantly crashes for unknown reasons, it even crashed when i was trying to load into a Minecraft world to play with some friends. I'm not sure if the performance and crashing is a defect, a software problem, or incompatibility with other components. If you know anything about this and know a solution please tell me. Thank you!

If the PSU is very low quality or old it might be an issue.

What happens if you lower the power limit in wattman to 50%? Just to see if it doesn't crash after a long period without power or clockspeeds being an issue.

Otherwise you could try flashing the bios to the latest one found on techpower up

or run a linux USB and install steam to see if the problem is windows. Reinstalling windows may also help.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

@Streetguru I don't remember the exact psu but it worked fine in the past and is only 3 years old. i don't think it is a problem of power as i have ran it max settings on superposition previously and it did not crash. That seems very tedious and i do not have much time at home due to school, i may attempt it though. This is feasible but then again I don't normally have very much time (more likely to try).

Have you used the gpu driver uninstaller DDU? It removes all files from old drivers that get stacked and could cause problems. Have to ask, probably did this right?

Use the DDU uninstaller and also ensure you dont have some old NVIDIA Drivers etc on there either.  Once all your drivers all wiped out go to amd website and install the latest drivers for your card if after this your card is still not working very well I would look into your power supply as others have said.
