Trying to start my own website with a shop and I have a couple questions.

From my understanding I can host my own website with notepad and my IP address, but to get a domain name I have to buy one from another website? How would I just make my own?

How would I make my own .com website without having to pay another company? How does bluehost, hostgator, godaddy, etc all have .com's and sell .com's. Where do I get a .com without paying someone else?

Also HTTPS/SSL, I see hostgator and bluehost sell SSL certificates. How would I just make my own website HTTPS/SSL without paying someone else?

Edit; I'm not saying I'm going to run a store from my home PC and network with no security, I was just using it as example for free option.

You'd have to setup a company of your own and have it registered as a domain-registrar at ICANN.

You can get free SSL-certificates from Let's Encrypt.

basically you can't,  every option is going to have a cost, some more than others.    A domain name will cost, hosting will cost (if you run from home upgrading tour internet and systems will cost).

I think the cheapest if you are starting out will be one of those all in a box store front services (square space or something like that maybe, I've never used it) or Ebay.

A domain will cost you somewhere around 10$/year and it will point to a (preferably static) IP adress. This IP adress will be tied to a webserver (apache, nginx), which will serve your website.

It sounds like you're still very new to hosting, so I'd recommend setting up a live version using some kind of website builder, if you want to learn more about hosting and makeing websites, don't hesitate to hit me up.

So is the rest probably
